It’s a bloody long way from Leeds (479 miles, to be precise). It is, however, a pretty good place to take a bunch of motoring journalists so that they can put the new BMW X1 and 5 Series Gran Turismo through their paces. And it’s where we had to deliver the stylish new press kits we’d designed for this launch (via an overnight courier with a love for the Highlands…)
The Brand Nursery waistlines have been stretched to bursting point again (not that far for Adam…) as another muffin research study has filled the office with product samples. The research for Speedibake and one of their key retail partners involved focus groups and accompanied shopping interviews…and we just couldn’t leave those muffins to waste, could we?
We don’t often get to travel the world (honest!), but on 2 September 2009 James was in Cleveland, Ohio, regretting his choice of scallops from the hotel menu, while Chris was in Romania, about 30 miles from Bucharest, in some woods, with a film crew and a pig. All in the name of business, naturally…
Those inventive people at Silver Cross just can’t help themselves. The latest edition to their range – the smooth-riding, rugged Surf – was launched for this autumn and needed to be incorporated into an update of the well-received ‘Book of Firsts’. With new photography that captures Surf in a range of environments, we produced the second edition.
It’s Vier Diamanten, actually, and if you’re not familiar with it you can be pretty sure that most Austrians are, as it has almost 50% of the market. But even the strongest of brand leaders needs to evolve, and we’ve been tasked with developing new packaging that balances the brand’s traditions with more contemporary values
Our latest recruit is Christina Nutter who has joined us as Project Manager and has immediately got stuck in, working with Napolina, EPC, MINI and BMW, amongst others. In between all the work she’s just about managed to find time to cheer her beloved Leeds United to the top of League One – a great start all round!.
Having been the original team that helped Jet2.com get off the ground, we have now been working on a project for the last 6 months that will see an entirely new interior scheme for their fleet of 30 Boeing 737’s and 8 Boeing 757’s. The first of the newly re-designed planes will come into service towards the end of this year.
Our latest research project was to understand the consumer ‘buying tree’ for Speciality Bread in an online environment. Cue a series of accompanied cyber-shops (a first for us!) and some pertinent insights that were greatly appreciated by our Clients at Speedibake and Asda.
Building on our successful relationship with MINI, we’ve now been appointed to deliver a series of projects for their parent company BMW – and it’s a real joy to be working with them.
The Miniature Bakery needed a website to support and promote their range – we designed and created a site that captured the craft baking skills and ethical values of the brand, and made the products look as delicious as they taste. Check it out at www.theminiaturebakery.co.uk
Almost 200 women, mostly in fancy dress, walking around the streets of Bradford on a summer night – no, not a dream (or a nightmare!); very much a reality. Marie Curie’s West Yorkshire team consider their first Midnight Walk to have been a great success, with over £12,000 raised, and we’re delighted to have helped out by designing all the promotional materials to recruit participants for the event.
Very Lazy has put chopped ingredients in jars for a long time. Now they are also putting ingredient pastes – garlic, chilli and ginger – into convenient little sachets. And the sachets are packed into a neat little box that we’ve designed.
Principal Hayley has a suite of 22 prestigious hotels and conference venues. They engaged us to develop press advertising to promote special event weekends – Father’s Day being the first.
Mr Blythe’s new addition to the car park at The Brand Nursery means there’s no room for anyone else… His Chrysler Voyager takes up three bays and is available for trips to a derelict fairground near you. Yikes, break out the Scooby Snacks!
Strong brands provide consumers with a ‘promise’ that needs to be delivered consistently in order to create interest, desire and action from its audience. Our identity guidelines for JET2 aim to do just that by ensuring that the JET2 logo appears in a consistent form across all communication.
JELD-WEN is a leading international producer of windows, doors and stairs to the building trade. The Brand Nursery has developed a series of ads to promote Dream-Vu, one of its high performance timber windows. The ads will appear in a range of trade publications from May to July this year.
After the success of last year’s press kit, we’re proud to say that we’ve just completed the second one – this time for the launch of the new MINI convertible.
We took an artistic approach to an event held by MINI in France for top UK journalists by displaying a range of MINI images on canvas and easels. The images ranged from the original MINI prototype drawing by Alec Issigonis right up to the new convertible.
If you’re going to design marketing and packaging materials for Cate’s Cupcakes, surely you’ve got to know what they taste like? Well we can confirm, after extensive tasting that they’re gorgeous! Thankfully our order of elasticated waist jeans is due for delivery any day now – along with Cate’s new identity and packaging.
The Brand Nursery has produced designs for a great little idea from The English Provender Company. No more mouldy old bottles of salad dressing lurking at the back of the fridge; just open one of their great new single serving sachets instead – genius!
We like a challenge here at The Brand Nursery so the gloves were off for our annual weight loss competition following the Christmas break. Actually, pretty much everything came off as we shed an impressive collective of two stones of Christmas baggage. Sadly, the effects have not been long lasting (see February!).
Newman's Own were looking to create a new sub-brand for their new all-American marinades and Sticky BBQ is the name that stuck. Our label designs ensured the character, essence and authenticity of the Newman's Own brand was maintained throughout.
Our second project for The Brand Nursery’s newest client Silver Cross is top secret! More about this later in the year.
Planning is an important element in any retailer’s calendar and ASDA’s Year Beginning Meeting is a vital part of the process. For the second year running we’ve helped define the strategy, look and feel of this important event.
World Events Management is responsible for the coordination of many high profile exhibitions and conferences throughout the world. This month we were appointed by them to create the event identity and to design and produce conference collateral for a global pharmaceutical business in Istanbul.
This month we were delighted to be awarded one of the largest projects ever undertaken by The Brand Nursery when we won a four way pitch to define a clear brand strategy for this famous nursery brand. The first communications piece, The Silver Cross Book of Firsts will be launched at the Nursery Show in Harrogate in March.
Jet2.com continues to go from strength to strength as a low cost airline and has called upon The Brand Nursery for inspiration. This time we were tasked with communicating the company’s approach to low cost travel on its fleet of 737s and 757s. ‘Friendly Low Fares’ will be in the skies above you very soon.
It was all hands to the pump this month when members of The Brand Nursery helped out on The English Provender Company’s stand at the Good Food Show in Birmingham. It was extremely hectic but we still had time for celebrity chef spotting, although sadly Lynn didn’t see her hero Gordon Ramsay… Just as well, be afraid Gordon, be very afraid.
